Dr Mike Muncaster BA, MA, PhD
Mike read History at the University of East Anglia graduating with a BA and completing an MA by research in 1969, progressing to a PhD which was awarded in 1977. He was Head of History at Bedford Modern School, until early retirement in 2003.
He joined WEA as a Tutor until 2008 and since has been an Independent Lecturer offering a range of courses on History based subjects which range from 10 weeks to individual short talks to History Societies, WI, Rotary and Probus groups.
During the 150 years covered by the course, the basis of modern medicine was established and a unified and a regulated profession emerged.
The course is constructed of self-contained sessions covering topics such as Surgery, Education, Public Health, Women, War and Medicine, General Practice, Dentistry and Unorthodox Practice which combine to produce a picture of developments over the 150 year period.
