Tad Newton’s JazzFriends Present “Basin Street to Basie & Beyond”

2 May: 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

– Basin Street to Basie & Beyond –

Tad Newton’s Jazzfriends played here on 27th September and received a standing ovation after performing  a selection from their wide and eclectic repertoire “Basin Street to Basie and Beyond” featuring the great tunes of the jazz greats!….Louis Armstrong, Earl Hines, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Johnny Hodges, Horace Silver, Miles Davis et al.

Having made another successful appearance at the Fest-Jazz in Brittany  in 2019 and being re-booked for 2020, they are returning to Ravensthorpe by popular demand as we start a series of occasional jazz evenings.

It will be a great evening in a relaxed atmosphere with room for dancing for those who can’t resist it and, of course,  a licensed bar.

As well as regularly performing locally and nationally, Tad is well known for his regular Sunday events at The Walnut Tree, Blisworth which present numerous guest bands and internationally recognised stars as well as performances by his own band.

“Tad Newton’s Jazzfriends were a huge success. The audience loved their gloriously eclectic repertoire, their tight arrangements and, most importantly, their infectious sense of enjoyment in what they were doing. Without doubt they will be asked back”. Trevor Stent, Vice -President Jazz-Fest France, July 2018. (Voted 2nd most popular band and invited back for 2019, and subsequently for 2020).

“Congratulations on a tremendous gig….it was a pleasure to be there!” Richard Eaton (Sunday Times journalist) Spice of Life Jazz Club 2017

“These guys really swing – a great band” Greg Abate (USA jazz star – ex Ray Charles band)

“Well played music, covering accepted traditional titles into some more swing stuff, all were very fine musicians” (Just Jazz Magazine reviewing Upton Jazz Festival”

“The best performance in my eyes was Tad Newton’s Jazzfriends at “The Lord Clifden” (Birmingham Jazz Festival Review)
